# Overview

Roles play a key part in the Ted Nation ecosystem\

In total there are **19 different roles**:

* [3 unique roles](/tedpaper/role-system/unique-roles.md) granting benefits solely by themselves
* 16 roles only acquire benefits when held in the correct [squad](/tedpaper/role-system/squads.md) of (at least) 4 Teds
